2026 WHITE OAK DISTRICT PINEWOOD DERBY

DRIVERS, START YOUR ENGINES!!!!!

Please bring your car and spend a fast-paced day full of fun, racing, and awards at this year’s district derby!!

Eligibility: ONLY the single fastest car from each pack for LIONS, TIGERS, WOLVES, BEARS, WEBELOS, AOL, Den Chief, Adult, and Sibling (age 10 and under (who can build their own car)) are eligible to participate. In addition, each pack can send one car to participate in the appearance competition (maximum of TEN cars per pack).

Parents, sponsoring adults, leaders, friends, guests, and others are welcome on race day.

• Awards for Top Racer for each scout rank – Lion, Tiger, Wolf, Bear, Webelos & AOL and overall district.
• Awards for appearance car
• Awards for Den Chiefs
• Awards for Adults
• Awards for Siblings
• All cars must comply with the White Oak District Standardized Pinewood Derby Builder’s Guide (File titled "17B 2024-2025 WOD Pinewood Derby Builder's Guide 2024-0506" located in Base Camp)
• There will also be an opportunity to win the “White Oak District Derby Cup” awarded to the pack with the fastest average times (LION, TIGER, WOLF, BEAR, WEBELOS and AOL racers **MUST** be entered and the car present for a Pack to be eligible). Appearance cars are not a contributor to the District Cup. To allow more opportunity for Packs to win the District Cup, the lowest speed score will be dropped. If there is no rank entered (such as Lion), then that “speed” score is dropped.
• Den Chief, Parent, and Sibling cars are a separate class of cars and are not eligible for the “Scout Rank” awards nor their times applicable for the District Cup.
• Scouts – be sure to wear your uniform!
• Scouts who are not able to attend the race on Saturday because of Religious Restrictions may have another Scout bring their car to the race.

DATE:          - Saturday, March 14, 2026

PLACE:      - FARQUHAR MIDDLE SCHOOL Gym --- LIVE RACE ONLY

                     <NEW LOCATION> --- 17017 Batchellors Forest Rd, Olney, MD 20832

TIME:           - Set up 9:00 – 10:00. Adults in the set up crew

                     - Check-in & Inspection between 9:30am – 11:00am. Please arrive on time! Please ensure your car is ready to race – check your car’s weight at home; we will only be able to fix your car if it is overweight

                     - NO CARS ARRIVING AFTER 11:00 WILL BE PERMITTED ENTRY

                     - Racing begins at 11:30am

COST:          - Registration fee is $15.00 per car for every car entered (covers the entire pack and guests)

                     - Registration and payment is **ONLY** online. There is *NO* “at-the-door” payment option.

                     - Registration will absolutely close on Saturday, March 7, 2026 at 11:59pm EST.

ADULT VOLUNTEER: Each participating pack is required to provide one adult volunteer to assist with race day activities. This adult needs to arrive at the established time and stay till the job is finished. We cannot guarantee your selected volunteer time.

Set-up - 9:00am-10:00am;

Check-in 9:30-11:00am;

Scout games – 10:00am - 11:00am;

Car runners: 11:30 – from start of race – till completion;

Take-down and cleanup: When race completes till cleaned up – WE HAVE TO BE OUT BY 3:00pm

REMEMBER --- Volunteer preference may be stated BUT is NOT guaranteed.  Please provide their name and contact information in the registration process, including: Name; CELL Phone Number; and E-mail address.

PACK LEADERS / CUBMASTERS. Please provide your competing Scouts and their parents or sponsoring adults a copy of the White Oak District Pinewood Derby Builder’s Guide and have a discussion with them that they must agree to abide by the rules therein. The guide is available on the White Oak District Basecamp.

CHECK-IN-ACTIVITIES: After your Scout has checked their car in, there will be additional activities and games to keep them engaged till racing begins.

FOOD: A snack bar will be available, provided by Troop 492.
