UASA Flight School

Event Details

UAS Academy teaches Land Air Sea Robotics and is developing special courses for NCAC. This offering on May 16-17 is the UASA Flight School which gives participants practical experience flying small UAS (unmanned aircraft systems). 

This is a special opportunity being extended to NCAC scouters and scouts ages 16+ at a discount at this time!

 

 

Flight School:

15-16 MAY from 0830 to 1630 both days. At Camp Snyder, in Haymarket, VA. Register on the right of this page. 

Who may register?

To take flight school, you need to either have a FAA Remote Pilot Certificate that is valid, or have taken Ground School with UASA. Opportunities for Ground School are listed below. Additionally you must be 16 or older. 

 

Ground School:

28-29 MARCH from 0830 to 1630 both days. At Camp Snyder in Haymarket, VA. Registration for Ground School is on this page: https://www.scoutingevent.com/082-UASGroundSchool

 

Advance Intel:

Plan to bring a lunch each day.
UASA holds the courses rain or shine.  Expect both.  
Start at 0830, end at 1630 all 4 days.  No late in or out early allowed.
UASA will provide all the materials needed, and will email you advance study materials too (not much). 

 

Bonus:

UAS Academy will offer internships (paid) to be conducted at Camp Snyder’s STEM Program for those who finish the program this time.  They will be first in line for summer internships served at Camp Snyder & in the DC metro area.

 

Additional Information: 

This course is based on the Federal Aviation Administration’s Remote Pilot Certificate – Small Unmanned Aircraft System rating test that leads to the RPC-sUAS credential.

The UAS Academy played an important role in the development of this course. Instructor-led classroom course with extensive skill development in Airspace; Navigation; Charts; Aeronautical Decision Making; Crew Resource Management; Meteorology; Aerodynamics; and Physics of Flight. Based on a combination of the FAA Test Guide and FAR 107 Advisory Circular 107-2, 98 percent of the participants pass the FAA Remote Pilot Certificate UAG Exam on their first attempt.

In order to get a Remote Pilot Certificate – Small UAS rating and begin flying a small UAS you need a pilot certificate, a TSA background check, and meet the health and age requirements.
