STEM Scouts

STEM Scouts tinker, explore and get creative doing hands-on activities in biweekly Lab meetings and occassional field trips. They try new things as they work with others, lead teams, communicate results and work with people in STEM careers.

STEM Scouts was designed by scientists from Oak Ridge National Laboratory to prepare girls and boys for a future of STEM literacy. Each year, we have 20 hands-on activities and accompanying kits for 5 modules or themes for youth in grades 3-5, and youth in grades 6-8 to explore together in Labs. 

When/Where do we meet?

The Lab will meet in-person between February -  June. The lab will explore 2 modules (or 8 meetings) between Feb - June. 

• meeting times are 6:30pm - 8pm on alternating Wednesdays beginning Feb 7
• location is Araby United Methodist Church | 4548 Araby Church Rd, Frederick, MD 21704 

This is a volunteer-led program

• All families should plan to volunteer in some capacity! In the registration, you will be able to select how you'd like to volunteer - whether you're comfortable as a STEM module instructor, classroom helper, or field trip planner. It's a fun program! 
   
• Parents/guardians, please complete this one-hour online Youth Protection Training prior to Feb 1. You will create an account, and receive a PDF certificate upon completion. Pleaes forward that to 082stem@gmail.com
