Patriot and George Mason Chapters Virtual Spring Ordeal

April 30 - May 1, 2021

Registration:  All registrations must be completed online.  Gather the following information before starting your registration:
 - OALM# (not required for Ordeal candidates), BSA ID#, and allergies/medical/dietary restrictions.

Registration closes: April 21 at 9:00 pm

Start Time: Friday, April 30 at 9:00 pm

End Time: Saturday, May 1 at 5:00 pm

Elangomats: Members that are interested in being an Elangomat for the Ordeal candidates need to contact Mr. Serfass prior to registering.

Notice to Ordeal Candidates:  All Ordeal candidates that have been elected during the election period should have received an invitation to attend the upcoming ordeal.

The Virtual Ordeal requires candidates to do the following:

If you are a youth under 18, identify a Supervising Adult, most likely a parent, to monitor your activities and ensure your safety and well-being. 
Plan and undertake a Service Project
Participate in a number of interactive ZOOM meetings Sunday evening (Apr 25, Friday evening April 30, and three on Saturday, May 1. 

You will learn more about these in the document, on the registration site; please read it. 

If you are not able to participate in this Virtual Ordeal, we may have more traditional in-person ordeals in late August and early October, dependent on NCAC guidelines.

Even though we won’t be meeting in-person, all candidates will still need to prepare for a camping experience they will conduct at home. Please prepare with a suggested gear list below.

Ordeal Weekend Gear:
Masks (multiple) 
Personal size hand sanitizer
Waterproof ground cloth/sheet (tarp)
Sleeping bag
Water bottle
Waterproof ground cloth/sheet
Insect repellent & Sunscreen

Your remaining gear should include the following:

Complete Boy Scout uniform (shirt, pants, belt, socks, neckerchief, & hat)
Work clothes, work gloves, and hat (some work projects will involve work that will potentially soil your clothing; so be sure to bring work clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty or paint on. As there is a possibility you may encounter poison ivy, please consider wearing a long-sleeved shirt and long pants for your work clothing, and bring a change of work clothing in a plastic bag should you need to change during the day.)
Personal grooming supplies
Jacket/windbreaker
Multiple pairs of socks
Change(s) of underwear
Rain gear (a scout is prepared)
Flashlight with extra batteries
Sturdy boots or work shoes
OA Sash (current members)

REMEMBER: All clothing should be appropriate for the outdoors and time of year. Remember you should pack for the season; be prepared!
DO NOT BRING: radios, CD player, or other electronic equipment. You may be asked to check-in your cell phone or to lock it in your car.
DO NOT BRING: any snacks or food items.

Cancellation Policy: Refunds for events with fees of $25.00 and over may be granted (less 15% handling fee) for the following reasons: sickness (with physician's statement), relocation, or death in the family.  If the event fees are under $25.00 per person, there will be no refunds and the fees cannot be credited toward another event.  Refund requests must be submitted in writing to the Chapter Adviser and acknowledged.
