2020 IOLS/BALOO Training

IOLS / BALOO Leader Training
When: September 11-13, 2020
Course starts Friday evening at 6:00pm sharp and ends promptly on Sunday at Noon.
Plan to arrive on time and stay for the whole weekend. It’s packed! Your time will not be wasted. All of our lives are quite busy, so please do not ask for dispensations for personal reasons.
Where: Walkersville Watershed
The closest Google Maps address is 9031 Chestnut Grove Rd, Frederick, MD 21701. There will be a sign placed at the entrance to direct you in.
Who: Any Scouts BSA or Cub Scout adult leader who works closely with Scouts (usually Asst. Scoutmasters or Den
Leaders) who are not fully trained yet. Scouts BSA adult leaders are considered fully trained and can wear the
Trained patch, when they have completed:
Youth Protection Training (YPT)
Position Specific Training (either online or in person)
Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (IOLS) Training
Cost: $35.00 / person.
What: Before the weekend of the training, you will be assigned to a patrol. Together, you will plan your meals, buy
your grub, and work out logistics for gear. You will choose a patrol name and cheer, make a flag and get to know your new patrol members. Just like your scouts do.
What is the best part of IOLS, you ask? Why give your valuable time?
You will begin a valuable web of friendships both with adult leaders, who, like yourself, are preparing for a larger role in scouting with their sons and with veteran staff members who were once in your position.
Signup: Deadline to sign-up is August 29, 2020.
