Introduction to Outdoor Leaders Skills (IOLS S11)

INTRODUCTION TO OUTDOOR LEADER SKILLS (S11)
(For Scoutmasters/ Assistant Scoutmasters, Committee members, parents of Troop members, Crews and Teams and any interested adult who is 18 or older)

It is designed to teach you the skills Scouts need and to help enhance your job performance though the use of the "Patrol Method”. 

When:
October 28-29, 2017 – WO

Cost:
$40.00 (Fee covers; materials, awards and site fee)

Schedule:
7AM Saturday to 4 PM Sunday (weekend camping)

All participants will be divided into patrols.  The "Senior Patrol Leader" (SPL) will form the patrols approximately two weeks prior to the event. Patrol members will be responsible for communicating with one another, coordinating equipment and  meal planning.

Prerequisites:

  • Youth Protection
  • Hazardous Weather
  • Troop Committee Training (for committee scouters)               
  • Weather Hazards (SCO_800) (Found by going into the Learning Center, select Course Catalog near the top, down to Expanded Learning, find Program Safety, select Program Safety, then you can find Weather Hazards.)

Uniforming:
This is a uniformed event, if you have one wear it.

It is highly recommended that you take Scoutmaster/Assistant Scoutmaster (S24) training before you attend this course. To be completely trained you must take Scoutmaster Leader Specific Leader Training (S24) (indoor) offered:

March 4, 2017 - Seneca District
April 22, 2017 - White Oak District
September 16, 2017 – Seneca District
October 7, 2017 - White Oak
December 2, 2017 –Seneca District

If you are a WEBELOS Leader you will receive a course completion card for IOLS as well as WEBELOS Outdoor Training.  You must indicate on your registration that you are a WEBELOS Leader to be credited.  It is highly recommended that you take Scoutmaster/Assistant Scoutmaster (S24) training before you attend this course.
