For Scoutmasters/ Assistant Scoutmasters/ Committee Chair/ Committee and any interested adult who is 18 or older.

Who takes training? This course is intended for Scoutmasters, Assistant Scoutmasters, Comittee Chair, Committee members and parents. It is designed to further your scouting interests and to help enhance your job performance.

Scouts BSA Position Trained Requirements:
     Important: To receive credit for the course and a training card, you must complete all prerequisites prior to the class and provide evidence of completion.

Required Training to complete before attending: (my.scouting.org)
To get into training, log in to my.scouting.org, Scroll down, then click ScoutingU
- Current Youth Protection (Y01 - 72 minutes) (Found inside of ScoutingU, enter youth in the Search area)
- Hazardous Weather Training Course (SCO_800-28 minutes) (Found inside of ScoutingU, enter hazard in Search area) - You want the 28 minute version.  Must retake every two years to retain your trained status.

Suggested Courses to complete before coming: (online classes are found at: my.scouting.org)
These two are required for the following IOLS training. Taken every 2 years.
- Safe Swim Defense (SCO_801)
- Safety Afloat (SCO_802)

Please gather your training dates before you start the registration process.  It will make the registration easier.  If you have already taken Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (IOLS), please provide the date.

Online registration requires the following information:
- Scouting America (BSA) ID Number (If you don't know, look under My Profile while in my.scouting.org)
- Name (As found on Scouting America (BSA) membership card)
- Email Address
- Phone numbers (one you will answer - due to possibility of bad weather)
       - Please add home, cell and Day of by clicking on each option
- Address
- District
- Troop Number
- Curent Registered Position
- Position to be Trained for (Select one of the 3 options)
- Training Courses & Date Completed

To complete your training and receive a Trained strip, you must take Introduction to Outdoor Leadership Skills (IOLS) training
Montgomery County area offers IOLS.
You must register for IOLS separately.
(You can take IOLS before you take this course.)
- May 3-4, 2025 (Seneca) National Izaak Walton League in Gaithersburg, MD (registration opens Spring 2025)
Other IOLS opportunities are offered through other districts in NCAC.

This is a uniformed event, if you have one wear it.
