BALOO is the Cub Scout leader training required for any Cub Scout den or pack outdoor event, including pack camping overnighters and Webelos den overnighters.  The skills taught are based on the outdoor skills found in The Cub Scout Leader Book and focuses on skills that build confidence and competence in leaders conducting outdoor camping experiences.

Friday  – Registration and check-in

5:00-6:00 p.m. - Registration/Gathering Time (Assigned Campsite/Setup Tent)
6:00 p.m. - Course Starts (Camping Overnight Required)

Saturday – Training all day

8:00 a.m. – Breakfast
6:00 p.m. – Course Over

Cost: The registration fee is $40 and covers camping fees, training materials, insurance, and food. Participants will be formed into patrols on site. Overnight camping is part of the instruction and course. Participants MUST attend the entire course to successfully complete the training. 

Meals: The following meals will be provided as part of this course: Friday: Cracker Barrel at campfire. Saturday:  Breakfast and Lunch.

There will be snacks provided during the day on Saturday.  Please either eat dinner before you arrive or bring dinner with you on Friday evening. There will only be a Cracker Barrel (snacks provided) after campfire on Friday evening.  Please notify me at zawistowski.amber1@yahoo.com of any special dietary restrictions.

Class size: Minimum 12 - Maximum 35 participates.

Pre-registration:  Is required via online with payment by October 20, 2024.  Registration may close early if Max participation is reached before this date.

Please Note:  The BALOO Course and has an overnighter requirement and an online component which needs to be completed before you take this hands-on portion of the course.  This course is required for leaders who haven’t taken the former BALOO course to include Webelos Leaders (in order to take their den’s camping).  More information will be provided once you have registered for the course.

Handouts:  Will be provided for all leaders participating in this course.

Suggested Packing List: Tent, Ground Cloth, Lantern/Flashlight, Sleeping bag, Sturdy Shoes, Change of Clothes, Rain Gear and Coat/Jacket/Hat/Gloves (if needed), Camp Chair.
