Blue Area Ordeal -

Serving Prince George’s (Patuxent), DC, Four Mile Run (Chain Bridge) and Western Shore Chapters
Dates: Friday, November 8 – Sunday, November 10, 2024
Location: Camp St. Charles - 15375 Stella Maris Dr, Newburg, MD 20664

Registration Details:

  • All registrations must be completed online.
  • Before registering, make sure to gather the following information:
    • BSA Member ID
    • OA Chapter
    • Name, Address, Email (a frequently checked email), Phone Numbers
    • Allergies/Medical/Dietary Restrictions
    • Volunteer Opportunities
    • Brotherhood Conversion
  • Registration closes on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at 11:59 PM.

Check-In and Check-Out Times:

  • Check-In: Friday, 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM
  • Check-Out: Sunday, 10:00 AM

Important Notice:

  • Dinner is NOT provided on Friday night.

Elangomats:
Elangomats volunteer to lead candidates throughout the entire Ordeal weekend. If you are interested in being an Elangomat, please contact the Blue Area team at: bluearea@wipit470.org.

For All Order of the Arrow Members:
All active OA members are encouraged to register. To be considered active, you must be currently registered with BSA and have paid your 2024 Lodge dues.

Ordeal Candidate Weekend Gear

Essentials (packed separately and easy to carry):

  • Sleeping bag
  • Water bottle
  • Waterproof ground cloth/sheet (8x10 tarp)
  • Insect repellent & sunscreen

Additional Gear:

  • Complete Boy Scout uniform (shirt, pants, belt, socks, neckerchief, hat)
  • Work clothes, gloves, and hat (Work clothes should be durable, as some projects may involve dirt or paint. Long sleeves and pants are recommended to avoid poison ivy exposure. Bring a spare set of work clothes in a plastic bag.)
  • Personal grooming supplies
  • Jacket or windbreaker
  • Multiple pairs of socks and changes of underwear
  • Rain gear (be prepared for weather!)
  • Tent
  • Sturdy boots or work shoes
  • Flashlight
  • OA Sash (for current members)

Packing Tip:
Dress appropriately for the outdoors and the time of year. Be prepared for the season!

What NOT to Bring:

  • Radios, CD players, or other electronic devices. You may be asked to check in your cell phone or leave it in your car.
  • Snacks or food items.

Health & Medical Information

  • A BSA Health & Medical Record Form is required for all lodge/chapter events.
  • This form is the first one listed on the linked page and is used for activities lasting less than 72 hours. It does not require a doctor’s signature.
  • Bring the completed medical form and a photocopy of both sides of your insurance card.
  • If your family does not have medical insurance, please indicate this on the form.
