2024 Four Mile Run District IOLS

The Four Mile Run District Training Committee invites you to participate in Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (IOLS), a hands-on skills training in the outdoors, designed to help adults master basic camp skills required for Tenderfoot to First Class. Scoutmasters and Assistant Scoutmasters must complete IOLS to be considered position-trained.
This course will be at the Patuxent River Park in Upper Marlboro, MD, on October 26-27 in conjunction with the Four Mile Run District Camporee. In order to take this course you must register here; please do not register for the Camporee. Registration and payment must be made online; no walk-ups can be accepted.
Participants may arrive Friday night, or Saturday morning prior to check in. Camping is permitted Friday night at the IOLS site but there is no program until Saturday morning. IOLS students are expected to tent at the IOLS site but if that poses a problem then the student should ask permission of the course director.
The cost to attend is $35 per participant, $10 for staff.
The NCAC Standard Cancellation Policy, linked at the bottom of the registration page, governs refunds. Please check your schedule before registering.
The registration fee covers camping fees, training materials, and food (Saturday lunch and dinner and Sunday breakfast). Please identify any dietary restrictions on the registration page.
There is a virtual planning meeting on Wednesday, October 23, from 8 to 9 pm (a Zoom link will be sent to all registrants). Participants will be formed into patrols prior to the training to facilitate bringing equipment, so attendance at the virtual planning meeting is essential. Students are also encouraged to take position-specific online training prior to the course as well.
This is an outdoor overnight camping activity. Participants need to bring their own tent and camping equipment. A recommended personal packing list is attached; more details to follow on what patrol equipment will be required. The overnight stay is required.
A current BSA Annual Health & Medical form must be submitted on arrival. Only Part A and Part B are required for this event.
We look forward to seeing you!
