Washington, DC Chapter Spring Ordeal

Registration: All registrations must be completed online. Gather the following information before starting your registration: - OALM# (not required for Ordeal candidates), BSA ID#, and allergies/medical/dietary restrictions.
Check Out Time: Sunday at 8:00 – 10:00 am
PLEASE NOTE THAT DINNER IS NOT PROVIDED ON FRIDAY. Eat before you arrive.
Notice to Elangomats: As an Elangomat, you agree to volunteer to lead candidates during the entire Ordeal Weekend.
Notice all Order of the Arrow members: All active OA members are encouraged to register. An active Order of the Arrow member is currently registered with BSA and has paid 2024 Lodge dues. If your dues are not current, you can pay them online: wipit470.org/dues
Ordeal Candidate Weekend Gear
These items should be packed in a separate bag from the rest of your gear and be able to be easily carried:
- Sleeping bag
- Water bottle
- Waterproof ground cloth/sheet {8x10 tarp}
- Insect repellent & Sunscreen
Your remaining gear should include the following:
- Complete Boy Scout uniform (shirt, pants, belt, socks, neckerchief, & hat)
- Work clothes, work gloves, and hat (some work projects may involve work that will potentially soil your clothing, so be sure to bring work clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty or paint on. As there is a possibility you may encounter poison ivy, please consider wearing a long-sleeved shirt and long pants for your work clothing, and bring a change of work clothing in a plastic bag should you need to change during the day.)
- Personal grooming supplies
- Jacket/windbreaker
- Multiple pairs of socks
- Change(s) of underwear
- Rain gear (a scout is prepared)
- Tent
- Sturdy boots or work shoes
- Flashlight
- OA Sash (current members)
REMEMBER: All clothing should be appropriate for the outdoors and time of year. Be prepared!
DO NOT BRING: radios, CD player, or other electronic equipment. You may be asked to check-in your cell phone or to lock it in your car.
DO NOT BRING: any snacks or food items.
Cancellation Policy: Refunds for events with fees of $25.00 and over may be granted (less 15% handling fee) for the following reasons: sickness (with physician's statement), relocation, or death in the family. If the event fees are under $25.00 per person, there will be no refunds and the fees cannot be credited toward another event. Refund requests must be submitted in writing to the Chapter Adviser and acknowledged.
