BALOO Training is Required Training for any Cub Scout Pack or WEBELOS den outdoor overnight event.   The goal of BALOO trained Adult Leaders is to provide a “positive camping experience” for Cub Scouts and their families.

Course Mission: To inspire and enable the participants of Mattaponi 2024 Spring BALOO training to return to their Packs able to enrich the lives of our youth by planning and executing safe, exciting, and memorable overnighters.

This is the Mattaponi District Practical Hands-on Event (Online prerequisite training is also required...see below):

Training includes:  Lunch Saturday, Dinner on Saturday, Breakfast on Sunday, Cracker Barrel and training materials.  

BALOO training consists of two components – an online component and a practical hands-on component.  Both components must be completed to be considered “BALOO Trained” and qualified to lead outdoor overnight events with Cub Scouts.   

The online component must be completed prior to the practical component.  The online training contains introductory and basic information that will be built upon during the practical training.  The online portion is available through BSA LearnCenter. 

1.      Log into https://my.scouting.org
2.      Browse to https://training.scouting.org/catalog
3.      In the “search” bar type “BALOO” and press “Enter”
4.      Click on “BALOO Prerequisite Training V2”
5.      Click “Enroll” and complete the four training modules.  It should take about 35 minutes total.
6.      To download your certificate- Once you complete the training go back to https://my.scouting.org, click “Menu” and then “My Training”.  Then click “Completions” and select the button next to “SCO_280 Introduction to the Cub Scout Outdoor Program v2”, then click “Certificate”.
