BPS Test - Patriot District - Fall '21 Cub-O-Ree

Event Details

Patriot District will hold its first Cub-O-Ree for Cub Scouts and their families at Camp Snyder in Haymarket, Virginia.  The event will include and “Adventure Day” program, “a movie under the stars” and a family overnight campout.  Additionally, we will host an Ice Cream Social at lunchtime on Saturday.  Also, this event is a recruiting event and open to perspective Cub Scouts and their families.

The Adventure Day program will be like Cub Scout Day camp and will consist of events to include the climbing wall, BB marksmanship, archery, ga-ga ball, sling shots, stomp rockets and lawn games.  The program is four hours long and will consist of a morning session from 9 AM till 1 PM or an afternoon session from 2 PM till 6 PM.  Cub Scouts can attend one session.  The cost is $12.  Ther is no cost for other family members not participating, adults and Staff volunteers not camping overnight.

Patriot District has reserved four campsites for family, den, or pack camping.  The sites are rustic but include a shared pavilion, some picnic tables and a shared fire circle for cooking or an evening campfire.  There are permanent bath houses in the camping area with indoor toilets, sinks and showers.  Families and units need to bring their own personal gear, tents, cooking equipment and food.  The campsites will open at 11 AM on Saturday and close at 11 AM on Sunday morning.  Commissioner volunteers will be available at each campsite to provide assistance.  The cost for cub scouts attending “Adventure Day” and camping is $26 but will also include the price of “Adventure Day” so the total is $26.    The cost for anyone else camping is $26.  Camping is free for children five years old and younger.  There is a family discount of $75 per family for the immediate members of any family.  The cost is $26 for staff camping overnight.

The Ice Cream Social will take place Saturday from 11 AM till 1 PM.  Each participant will receive a great ice cream sundae and a bottle of water.  The cost is $10 per person and the proceeds will be donated to The Friends of Scouting campaign.  The movie under the stars will be held at dusk and is free.  Participants are encouraged to bring a blanket or a chair for their own comfort.
