Specialty Classes in Michael's Woodshop

Michael's Woodshop is pleased to offer a variety of specialty classes including introductory skills classes and specific project actvities.  Review the class descriptions below and then choose from the available class dates in the list of events.

BEFORE YOU REGISTER - Please review our Covid-19 Safety Guidlines to determine if attending this class is appropriate for you and your family.

Woodworking 101: This class introduces Scouts and adults to woodworking; taking them through the entire process from lumber making to a completed project.  It is a great course for anyone who would like to learn basic woodworking skills. Open to registered Youth 11 and older and adults. Review the Class Syllabus

Tool Restoration:  Tools and equipment can become damaged by rust or corrosion.  This class will demonstrate restoration techniques as well as preventative measures that can be taken to prevent this damage from occurring.  Open to registered Youth 13 and older and adults.  Review the Class Syllabus.

Classic Doll Bed Project:  This project will introduce students to basic shop machines, power tools and hand tools and ends with each Work Pair having the option to create one or two Classic Doll Beds.  The class is open to registered Youth 11 and older and adults.  The class is structure for Work Pairs (parent/Scout, Scout siblings or Scout buddies).  Reveiw the Workshop Description 

Woodworking 201 - Router Skills Workshop:  This class introduces attendees to the router, router safety and the use of certain router jigs and templates.  Open to registered youth 16 and older and adults.  Attendees must have basic woodworking skills, be comfortable with power tools and have adequate strength to control the router.  Review the Workshop Description.

Workbench Design Class:  The workbench is the heart of every wood shop.This class focuses on features and design consideration to incorporate into your own workbench design. This class is structured for Work Pairs (parent/Scout, Scout siblings, Scout buddies).  Open to Youth 14 and older and adults. Additional class details and schedule coming soon.

Workbench Construction Class:  Supervised shop time for Work Pairs to cut components for their workbench and perform full or partial assembly.  Teams must bring their completed workbench design(s) and all materials needed.  Prerequisite - Design Class.  Class schedule coming soon.
