Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation (BALOO)

 

****NOTE: AQUIA EVENT CANCELED DUE TO INSUFFICIENT PARTICIPATION****

BALOO is the Cub Scout leader training required for any Cub Scout den or pack outdoor event, including pack camping overnighters and Webelos den overnighters.  The skills taught are based on the outdoor skills found in The Cub Scout Leader Book and focuses on skills that build confidence and competence in leaders conducting outdoor camping experiences.

Dates: Friday evening, September 24 to Sunday 10 a.m., September 26, 2021.

Location: Curtis Park, 18 Fairway Dr, Fredericksburg, VA 22406

Schedule:

Friday, September 24 - Registration and check-in 6 – 8 p.m.  (Optional camping night)

Saturday, September 25 – Training all day with camp overnight Training starts at 8 a.m.

Sunday, September 26 – Training in the morning, break camp and check-out 10 a.m.

Cost: The registration fee is $40 and covers camping fees, training materials, insurance, and food.    Participants will be formed into patrols on site.  Overnight camping is part of the instruction and course.  Participants MUST attend the entire course to successfully complete the training. 

Food: No meal provided Friday night.  Breakfast will be provided Saturday and Sunday.  Lunch and dinner will be provided Saturday along with a cracker barrel.  Please contact the course director with any dietary restrictions once registered.

NCAC Cancellation Policy:  There are no refunds for this event and the fees cannot be credited toward another event, unless canceled due to state or BSA restrictions.

COVID-19:  The course will adhere to all Council and National BSA COVID policies, any restrictions will be provided in the welcome email.

All training will take place at Curtis Park. PLEASE BRING YOUR BSA PART A & B MEDICAL FORM.

Youth Protection Training must be complete and current at time of check-in, please provide proof of such.

Registration information AND payment must be received no later than, 22 September 2021.
