Pre-Camp Swim Classification Tests 2021
The National Capital Area Council is recommending pre-camp swim tests for Scouts attending summer camp at Goshen this year. BSA swim tests are being offered at the Camp Snyder pool by the Council’s Aquatics Committee on June 13th, 14th and 19th. Pre-registration is required and walk ins cannot be accommodated.
Hours: Swim Test sessions will be offered on the 1/2 hour from 9:00a through 5:00p. Up to18 Scouts and Scout Leaders may registered per 1/2 hour testing session.
Requirements: 1) This event is open to all NCAC units. All Scouts and Scout Leaders must be currently registered with Scouts BSA, 2) All swimmers must be properly attired for active water exercise, 2) Troop are required to have at least two registered adult leaders present attending to help with the swim tests and sign the swimming test forms for their unit, and 4) Each swim session should arrive with two copies of the Scouts BSA Test form completed in ink with the names of the swimmers 10 minutes before their start time.
Cost: FREE
Note: Other camps may also accept pre-camp swim test and swim. Please note that the completion of a swimming test is required for Scouts participating in activities when they can be exposed to water deeper than chest height. Unit leaders are reminded to follow Scouts BSA Safe Swim Defense and Safety Afloat policies at all times. Half hour online courses are available via the My.Scouting.Org web site that detail these requirements and the swim test process.
Although these swim tests are being conducted prior to summer camp, each camps aquatics director is expected to review or retest any Scout or leader whose skills appear to be inconsistent with their classification. Additionally, the camp aquatics program director is authorized to retest any Scout or group of Scouts at their discretion.
