Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (IOLS) Training - Washington, D.C. District

Event Details

Working as patrols, this hands-on course provides adult leaders the practical outdoor skills they need to lead Scouts in the out-of-doors. Upon completion, leaders should feel comfortable teaching Scouts the basic skills required to obtain the First Class rank. Along with Scoutmaster Specifics this course is required of all direct contact leaders registered in Boy Scout Troops in order to be considered “trained”.

When: October 19-20, 2019 -- Check-In/ Registration Opens at 8 am; classes Begin 8:45 am

Cost: $25 per registrant to cover food and supplies.

Need To Knows:

  • Upon checking into the class you must turn in a completed BSA Annual Health and Medical Form, Parts A and B, and a copy of your insurance card. The forms will be returned to you at the end of class.  
  • Potable water is available.
  • Bring your favorite camping chair.
  • If you enroll in this training opportunity you will NOT be participating in the Camporee, you will be at IOLS course the entire time. 
  • Attendance to all segments of the class are required for completion and certification.
  • Know your BSA Member ID so you can have this training properly recorded.
  • Be sure to provide your email address so that you can receive correspondence from the Washington, D.C. District Training team.
  • If you have completed Youth Protection Training (Y01) and Scoutmaster Position Specific Training (S24) prior to this course, please bring your training card(s) or proof of completion and your BSA Member ID to received your Trained patch.
