2017 WHITE OAK DISTRICT PINEWOOD DERBY

GENTLEMEN START YOUR ENGINES!!!!!

Eligibility: OFFICIAL RACE: The fastest car from each pack for TIGERS, WOLVES, BEARS, WEBELOS I and WEBLOS II are eligible to participate. In addition, each pack can send one car to participate in the appearance competition.

OPEN CLASS:  Just for additional fun, each Pack may send one car in each of the following categories:  PARENT, DEN CHIEF, SIBLING (aged 14 and under)

• Parents, sponsoring adults, leaders, friends, guests, and others are welcome on race day.
• Awards for Top Racer for each scout rank – Tiger, Wolf, Bear, Webelos I & II and overall district.
• Awards for appearance
• Awards for Den Chiefs
• Awards for Parents
• Awards for Siblings
• All cars must comply with the 2017 White Oak District Pinewood Derby Builders' Guide

There will also be another opportunity to win the "White Oak District Derby Cup". The Cup is awarded to the pack with the fastest average times for cars at every level in the OFFICIAL RACE. (An entry for every level is required to be eligible.)

Event Information:

• DATE: Saturday, April 8, 2017
• PLACE: White Oak Middle School,12201 New Hampshire Ave, Silver Spring, MD 20904
• TIME:
  • Adult volunteer helpers from every pack arrive at 10:00 am
  • Check in and Inspection between 11:00 am - 12:30 pm (please arrive on time - no cars arriving after 12:30 will be allowed to race)
  • Racing begins at 1:00 pm
• COST: Registration fee is $45.00 per pack or $8.50 per car up to max of $45
  (covers the entire pack and guests)
• FOOD: A Snack Bar will be available to keep your hunger at bay, but NO FOOD is allowed inside the gym area because of Montgomery County rules.

Registration Information:

• Registration is only online and in advance only!
• Each participating pack is required to provide one adult volunteer to assist with race day activities.
• No walk-ins!
• Payment can be done by credit card, debit card, or echeck.
• Registration is only open until 11pm on Wednesday 4/5/16.
• NO LATE REGISTRATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED.

Additional Information:

• One adult volunteer is required from each Pack to help with race day activities including: set up, check in, crowd control, pre-race games, racing operations, and clean up. The adult volunteer is needed from 10:00am until the race and cleanup are completed.
• After your Scout has been checked in, there will be food and additional activities and games to keep them engaged until the racing begins.
