OA Vigil Induction 2026

Amangamek-Wipit Lodge
2026 Vigil Inductions Weekend
Come Out and Join us for food, fun, fellowship, and service!!
Only Vigil members and candidates may sign up to attend Vigil induction events. Vigil candidates who received an invitation letter may sign up using this registration page. There are two induction opportunities scheduled. The first is at Camp William B. Snyder Friday, August 7, 2026 and the second is Saturday, August 8, 2025 at Camp William B. Snyder. If you are not able to schedule your induction on any of these dates, please contact Morgan Bentley (703) 371-3974 and/or email us at vigilinductions@wipit470.org at your earliest opportunity.
Vigil candidates should identify their guide when registering. Vigil members planning to be a Vigil guide should identify the candidate that they will be guiding. For all attending in August, we ask that you identify which meals you are planning to eat at camp, so we have a good estimate for food. If you are a Vigil member attending either or both nights at Snyder, or if you are a new Vigil and intend to spend the night on Saturday, please bring a tent, just in case. We will have bunks available, but in case they are taken, being prepared with a tent is best.
In addition to your uniform shirt and Brotherhood sash, candidates should dress appropriately to remain in the outdoors for a lengthy time (remember come prepared for the season and not the day).
Prepare your pack for the experience by including the following items:
Canteen or a large bottle of water for safety, etc.
Food/Snacks
Rain gear
Watch
Matches
Pocket knife, ax, or saw
Small Camp Chair
We ask that guides bring a gallon jug or bucket.
Vigil Guides: Please be prepared to join a zoom to go over expectations for you during the Vigil. This zoom link and date and time will be communicated by email after we have most of the Guides registered/indicated. Please be on the lookout for an email about this.
At Snyder in August, for Friday Inductions, check-in begins at 6 pm, Cracker Barrel is at 8 pm, and meetings will begin around 10 pm. Dinner will not be served, but there are plenty of restaurants just outside of Camp in Haymarket. Please eat beforehand or feel free to bring dinner with you to camp and eat it in the Dining Hall. If you can’t get to Snyder by Cracker Barrel, be there before 10 pm. For Saturday Inductions, we are supporting and attending “The Great American Scouting Picnic” - the Council’s celebration for America’s 250th Anniversary, we would love to have you join us!! More details are to come for the Picnic. Lunch will be part of the Picnic. If you would like to help with the Picnic, please indicate as much in the Vigil Registration. This way we know who will be at Camp still from the Vigil. There will be a separate - free - registration for the Picnic to attend and/or to staff so the Council knows who is coming, but we need to know who is in Camp for Vigil, so if you plan on leaving before or after the Picnic, please check out with the Vigil Leadership. Otherwise, check-in begins at 5 pm, dinner is at 6 pm, and meetings will begin around 8 pm. For the Snyder Vigil, those who take part in the Friday Induction, are welcome and highly encouraged to stay for Saturday and take part in fellowship, the Picnic, and help with the Saturday Induction.
Breakfast will be provided by the Vigil staff and you should expect to depart for home at about 9:00 am. If you are a candidate, our experience has shown that you will be tired following the Vigil; driving home is not permitted. You MUST carpool with someone who is not participating in the overnight activities (this is a National policy). Again, those who participate in the Friday Night Vigil at Snyder are encouraged to stay and participate in the rest of the activities during the weekend. Please remember to check out with Vigil Staff before leaving.
The cost is $80 per Vigil Candidate, this price includes your registration for Vigil, as well as your registration for the Lodge Banquet to be held on January 7th, 2027. If you would like to purchase the Lodge Passport, this registration can cover one of your guests. The Vigil portion of the registration covers the price of the sash, certificate, and Vigil Card.
The cost is $35 for all Vigil members. For those who register for the Friday, August Vigil event; there will not be any additional cost to register for Saturday night Vigil at Snyder. The cost for members covers food for members, facility costs, supplies for the event, and it helps cover food for the Vigil Candidates.
There is an optional cost of $50 for Vigil Members for those that are willing to help further offset some of the cost for the Vigil Candidates and to lower the cost for Vigil Candidates to attend. This registration choice is optional. We appreciate any and all that are willing to register with this option.
All registrants must bring a copy of their BSA Annual Health and Medical Form (parts A & B). There are links to the form on this registration page.
