Scoutmaster-Specific Training (S24)

Date: Saturday, May 9, 2026, 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM
Location: Kingston Chase Pool Clubhouse, 1623 Hiddenbrook Drive, Herndon, VA 20170
Event Details:
This course is specifically intended for registered Scoutmasters/Assistant Scoutmasters and is required to complete your basic training. Other interested adults working with Scouts BSA troops -- committee members, parents -- are welcome to attend.
Through a series of lively presentations and discussions, the course teaches basic methods adult leaders can use to guide boy leaders in delivering an effective, exciting scouting program. Course topics include:
Practical concerns of a scout leader
The role of adult leaders in a boy-led troop
Troop operation using the patrol method
Achieving a vibrant, safe outdoor program
Encouraging recognition through advancement
Understanding troop administration and the troop committee
Fee: The course is free.
Wear/Bring: Wear Scouts BSA leader uniform, bring Troop Leader Guidebook (if you have it)
Prerequisite: Scoutmasters/Assistant Scoutmasters, please complete Hazardous Weather Training, SCO_800, available on-line at www.my.scouting.org, before the session and e-mail me your completion certificate, or print it and bring it with you to the training.
