NCAC STEM: Weather Merit Badge Workshop

NCAC STEM is hosting an event for Scouts BSA to earn the Weather merit badge on May 23, 2026
They will host the event at Sally's STEM Shack at Camp William B. Snyder, Haymarket, VA.
Who can attend? Scouts BSA.
Class Overview
Come to Camp Snyder for a fun day of learning about the weather. Learn about what things to look for when out camping or on the trail to take measures to protect yourself before summer camp and High Adventure camping seasons. Make a weather intrument, learn simple outdoor ways to view the weather and be a weather forecaster just like on TV!
Event Schedule
The session will run from 9 AM to 1:30 PM
Prerequisites
Requirements #10. Scouts BSA will need to make a weather instrument, take observations at the same time every day and chart it for seven consecutive days prior to Workshop. Some of the sites for weather instruments the scouts can look at to help them are:

Event Requirements and Details
Uniforms: SBSA should wear Class A uniform.
What to bring with you on May 23rd:
Blue card filled out and signed by your SM
Pencil and notebook
Merit badge book
Water bottle/lunch
Directions and Parking: Camp William B. Snyder is located at 6100 Antioch Road, Haymarket, VA 20169. See attached map for directions to Sally’s STEM Shack. Parking is available to the right of the building.
Registration Fee: Early Bird registration (deadline April 1), $25; Regular registration (deadline April 6), $30; Late registration (deadline April 10) $35.
