2026 Fairfax Area Spring Ordeal

Fairfax Area Ordeal

Where: Camp William B. Snyder  6100 Antioch Rd, Haymarket, VA 20169

Check-in time for Ordeal candidates: Friday, May 8 at 6:00 PM

Check-in time for  Members: Friday, May 8 at 6:00 PM

Check out time for Ordeal candidates: Sunday, May 10  at 8:00 AM 

Registration Details:

All registrations must be completed online no later than May 7 by 11:59 PM

You will need to provide your Scouting America Membership ID (the number on your registration card--also available from your unit), as well as information about medical issues and dietary restrictions, including allergies.

Cost:

Ordeal Candidate $70 (includes food for the weekend, as well as the Order of the Arrow Sash, Handbook, Lodge Pocket Flap Patch, and annual dues)

Lodge Members(Full Weekend) $35

Lodge Members (Saturday Only) $25

Feast Only $15

Elangomat $20

What to bring:

  • Annual Health and Medical Record (Parts A and B), as well as a copy of their health insurance card.
  • Signed copy of Lodge Code of Conduct form. (See attachement on right)

All attendees should eat dinner on Friday before arriving--there will be no dinner served on Friday.

This event occurs on Mother’s Day weekend. All participants can depart at 11 p.m. on Saturday, May 9, or can elect to depart NLT 8 a.m. on Sunday, May 10.

All attendees should arrive in uniform.
Please take note of the weather forecast and bring appropriate clothing. Layers are always a good idea.
As always, Be Prepared.
Ordeal Candidates should pack their gear in two bags:

Day Pack or Small Duffle: **We recommend that you pack these items as an Ordeal Horseshoe Roll as described as described in attachment found to the right.

  • Sleeping bag
  • Sleeping pad
  • Waterproof groundsheet
  • Rain jacket
  • Flashlight
  • Water bottle
  • Insect repellent
  • Wear sturdy boots as you may hike some distance on Friday night

Second Gear Bag:

  • Tent (Candidates and Members may share tents consistent with Safeguarding Youth and Barriers to Abuse)
  • Work clothes, including work gloves. (To avoid poison ivy, consider long-sleeve shirts and long pants)
  • Change of clothes
  • Rain gear
  • Towel/grooming supplies
  • Sunscreen
  • Jacket/Fleece
