FOUR MILE RUN DISTRICT KLONDIKE DERBY
FEBRUARY 7, 2026

The Klondike Derby is a midwinter challenge of teamwork and outdoor skills recalling the Klondike Gold Rush of the 1890's. Your patrol or crew will pull a sled you have built yourself (ahead of time) over a course using the trails at Camp Highroad, Aldie, VA. You will load your sled with the equipment you will need for the competition. You will journey to Klondike "towns" named after real towns of the Yukon Territory. When you get to a "town," you will report to the Mayor, pay your toll and receive a challenge. The challenges are fun and will test your skills, your teamwork, your leadership and your scout spirit.

Traveling by dog team is often still the best way to get around in the Yukon territory. At our event, scouts rather than dogs pull the sleds, but it’s still mushing!

The cost is $35 per scout participant and $20 for adults / adult staff /scout staff). The Adult Leader Guide and Patrol/Crew Leader Guide is uploaded. The Sled Equipment List and Sled Inspection Form will be online soon. All units are invited to camp on Friday, February 6th before the event and/or Saturday, February 7th after the event. We need very accurate participant info that can only be collected a few days before the event but we need registration to close by midnight 1/25/2026 for resource planning long before the detailed info is accurately available for planning purposes.
