The Olympians' Trials

The gods of Olympus have issued a challenge to the Scouts of Loudoun District!: prove your worth through trials of strength, wisdom, and courage. Only those who endure these ancient tests will earn the favor of the Olympians. Guided by the Heroes of the Order of the Arrow, you will face the elements, your limits, and each other in a quest for glory. From the heights of Mount Olympus, the gods watch closely. Do you have what it takes to rise among the heroes of old?

This event is packed with thrilling activities that will test your skills and spirit such as

Impress Hephaestus

Aphrodite’s Fashion Frenzy

Apollo’s Challenge

Sun Chariot Racing

Cooking With Hestia

Hermes’s Special Delivery

Asclepius’s First Aid Assessment

Poseidon’s Nautical Knots

Hercules’  Test of Strength

The Oracle’s Ramblings

Hypnos’ slumber

Athena’s Trivia Test

Pin the Tail on the Minotaur

Fool the Fates

Artemis’ Accuracy Test

Registration opens in October, so start preparing your troops now for this unforgettable adventure. This Freeze-o-Ree is more than just a campout—it's a chance to be a part of Loudoun's own Scout-run Camporee! The cost per attendee is $22.

Scoutmasters and Senior Patrol Leaders should come to a quick meeting on Friday night at the Freeze-o-Ree headquarters to get more information about their schedules for the following day.

After a Saturday full of fun and challenge, there will be a campfire where awards will be given out to the patrols who got the most points during the day, as well as to winners of special competitions. Campfire skits that use the Olympian theme earn bonus recognition. Each Freeze-o-Ree event is based on the patrol's ability to work together as a team, general scout skills, and scout spirit. Patrols are responsible for having their scorecard with them at all times.

We look forward to seeing you at this year's Freeze-o-Ree. If you have questions, please contact Event Chair Craig "Prometheus" Bond (bond00e@aol.com) and Youth Event Director Asher "Zeus" Gill (asherg2019@gmail.com)

REGISTRATION

Unit registration is online, and all registrations must be received by January 21st, 2026. REGISTRATION WILL CLOSE AT MIDNIGHT ON 2/4/2026. We ask that Troops register a single “placeholder” in advance to ensure best placement in campsites.

Troops/Crews/AOL Dens should register as a Unit (all participants under one single bulk registration). OA Staff can register as individuals (not registered with the Unit). However, the cost per person is the same - $22 each. Staff who are camping and eating with their Troops should register with them. Staff who are camping and eating with the OA should register as Staff. There will be no non-staff individual registrations. If you are a small group or individual that needs help connecting with another Troop to partner, please let the organizers know and we’ll help! If you are having trouble finding enough adult leaders, please let us know and we’ll help with that, too!

There is NO ON-SITE REGISTRATION - all participants must register and pay ONLINE.

AOL Participation - We are thrilled to accept AOL Scouts at the Freeze-o-Ree. AOL’s have two options for attending:

First, they can stay overnight with their AOL Patrol/Den. However, due to the possibly cold conditions, we ask that AOL's camp with their parents in the same tent. You can stay in a campsite with the Troop of your choice, or we'll find a Troop to "host" you.

The second option is for AOL Scouts to come out on Saturday as Day Participants. If you utilize this option, please bring lunch, as we won’t be providing meals.  In either case, we're very excited to welcome AOL's to the Freeze-o-Ree!!  We'll have a special base for day participants to hang out, leave their gear, and eat lunch.

A commemorative Loudoun District Freeze-o-Ree patch will be distributed to all participants registered for this event.
