Leave No Trace Skills and Leave No Trace Instructor Courses

Event Details

Leave No Trace Skills (ages 14–17 and 18+ who opt for this course) and Leave No Trace Level 1 Instructor (ages 18+)

The $75 fee covers food, accomodations, and course materials.

Leave No Trace Skills (D84) Participants ages 14–17 (and ages 18+ who opt for this course) will learn Leave No Trace skills, ethics, and have several opportunities to practice these low-impact techniques during the course while spending more than half of the course outdoors. Leave No Trace Skills Course graduates are prepared to discuss the Leave No Trace principles with others and to practice low-impact skills and techniques on future endeavors.

Leave No Trace Level 1 Instructor (D78) This is a 16-hour hands-on course to equip adults 18+ to teach the Leave No Trace principles by conducting Leave No Trace Awareness Workshops. The course is for those who are committed to responsible use of our outdoor resources and want to share that passion with others.

The course is divided between classroom training and an overnight backcountry experience, during which participants will each teach one of the principles within a small group. You will need camping gear for the overnight experience.

Each student will be assigned one of the principles to make a presentation on prior to the event. You can find more information to help with your presentation at https://www.scouting.org/programs/scouts-bsa/troop-resources/leave-no-trace/teaching-leave-notrace/03background/
