Leader Skills Day is the premier one-day supplemental training opportunity for all Scout BSA leaders.
Leader Skills Day will offer leaders a variety of training that goes beyond Leader Specific Training and Introduction to Outdoor Skills (IOLS).
What will happen during Leader Skills Day?
- Participate in a full day of fun, hands-on workshops designed to put adventure back into Scouting
- Learn new skills; hone the skills you currently have
- Led by adult volunteers who will help your ability to infuse fun and excitement into the Scouting program
- Network with other unit leaders
- Earn a special inaugural patch for this new event!
- Luncheon speaker: Bud Harrelson and the Cherokee Summer Camp Promotion!
What are the sessions and training topics that are available during Leader Skills Day?

- This list is a work in progress and will evolve between now and the actual event.
Who are the presenters?
- Scout leaders just like you who are experienced in the area they are facilitating.
How is the day structured?
- Registration will open at 7:45 am.
- The event starts at 8:30 am.
- The event ends at 3:30 pm.
- Lunch is at 12:00 noon.
- During the morning and afternoon sessions, attendees will be able to choose the session topics they are interested in learning more about.
- Session topics are first come, first serve.
- Sessions are hands-on and engaging.
- Sessions will have handouts on reminding you how you can implement this information/skill in your unit.
What is the cost?
- $20
- The fee includes:
- Catered, box lunch
- Event patch
- Instructional materials and supplies

- Catered box lunches from Pepper Moon
- Sandwich choices
- Classic Deli Style Ham Sandwich
- Grilled Chicken Sandwich
- Vegetarian Tortilla wrap with Hummus
- Includes chips, fresh fruit, and a dessert bar
- You will make your lunch selection during registration

- We will use the lunchtime presentation as the Summer Camp 2023 Kickoff
- Pertinent details about summer camp at Cherokee Scout Reservation will be covered
- The leader guide will be released
- This is a great time to get all of your questions answered
