This course is sponsored by the BSA National Outdoor Program Group.

The course is hosted by the Old North State Council at Cherokee Scout Reservation.

Registration must be completed through the Outdoor Program Group.

Time Commitment: This course starts @ NOON on Friday.  It's a full 2.5 days of curriculum.

NRA Rifle/Shotgun Instructor Courses:
All NRA Rifle/Shotgun Instructor candidates MUST take a basic student class before attending the corresponding instructor class (i.e. NRA Rifle Basic is required before attending an NRA Rifle Instructor course, NRA Shotgun Basic is required before attending an NRA Shotgun Instructor course).

Scouting America and the NRA offer these courses at discounted prices at local councils across the country or you can attend any commercial NRA Basic class. To find a Basic Rifle or Shotgun course in your area, please visit: www.nrainstructors.org. 

Once completed, you will need to bring proof of completion with you to the instructor course.

YOU MUST COMPLETE NRA BASIC RIFLE AND BASIC SHOTGUN PRIOR TO COMING TO THIS COURSE.  If you take it with us in March, we will have your proof of completion on file.

Do not bring any personal firearms - camp assets will be used.  We provide firearms, ammo, targets.  We will have the following meals provided:
Friday:  Supper

Saturday:  Breakfast, Lunch, Supper

Sunday:  Breakfast, Lunch

Start time is Noon on Friday.  End time is 4pm on Sunday.  We may finish earlier (course is objective based), but plan on being in camp until 4pm.

What to bring:
Camping gear, water bottle, a cup for hot/cold beverages, rain gear, personal eye and hearing protection, notepad, pen, HIGHLIGHTER, and snacks.  

 

Please note:  Upon completion of this course, there are additional fees to be paid to the NRA to complete registration as an NRA Instructor.
