CSR Merit Badge Day - March 20, 2021

The Cherokee Scout Reservation Merit Badge Day is an attempt to provide Scouts BSA an opportunity to earn advancement since Winter Camp 2020 was canceled.

Date: Saturday, March 20, 2021

Arrival Time: Arrive between 8:30 am and 8:45 am; come to the main parking lot. Merit badge instruction begins at 9:00 am.

Departure Time: Depart the main parking lot between 3:30 pm and 4:00 pm

Scouts will need to bring Parts A & B of the BSA Annual Medical & Health Form.

Scouts will participate in 1 of 5 merit badge choices:

  1. Citizenship in the World (Eagle required)
  2. Composite Materials
  3. Crime Prevention
  4. Emergency Preparedness (Eagle required)
  5. Personal Management (Eagle required)

Cost: $35 which includes merit badge materials, a hot lunch, and COVID-19 mitigation supplies.

The unit leader may register the entire unit. Or, families may register their Scout individually.

Upon arrival in the parking lot, Scouts will undergo a COVID-19 screening.

To prevent mixing, Scouts will go directly to their program area. Merit badge instruction will take place under open-air shelters. Essentially, Scouts will be outside for the entire day. Scouts should dress appropriately for the weather.

Scouts must wear face-covering for the duration of the event.

Class sizes are limited to 24.

Registration closes on Thursday, March 18 at 11:59 pm.

The Merit Badge Detailed Chart shows which requirements will be covered during the merit badge day, pre-work, and any items Scouts should bring.

Unit leaders/guardians are welcome to stay at camp for the duration of the event.

The cost for adults is $5.00 to cover lunch.

Unit leaders/guardians will have a designated wait area.

We will use Black Pug's Unit Advancement Summary Report to show the Scout's status toward completing the merit badge. The Unit Advancement Summary Report is available under the REPORTS tab in Black Pug. The Unit Advancement Summary Report will be available Sunday, March 21 at 12:00 noon. Scouts should share the pdf file with their Scoutmaster to receive credit for the merit badge.

Dr. Chris Cobitz is the event coordinator. Direct questions to him at chris@cobitz.com.
