FOR COURSE CANDIDATES
WHO MAY ATTEND: Any registered Adult BSA Leader. If taking as pre-requisite to April Instructor course, you need to be familiar with rifles and shotguns and have shot before.
NRA PRE-QUALIFICATIONS: NONE; This course is the basic course but is pre-requisite to the April Instructor course. You MUST attend this course to attend the instructor course in APRIL.
COURSE OFFERING:
Offering Shotgun on Saturday immediately transitioning into Rifle on Saturday night when finished.
1. Discipline: Basics of Shotgun Shooting
Indoor Instruction, Safety Exercises and Range Qualification
Short Description: This course teaches the basic knowledge, skills and attitude necessary for the safe use of a shotgun in shooting a moving clay target.
2. Discipline: Basics of Rifle Shooting
Indoor Instruction, Safety Exercises and Range Qualification
Short Description: This course teaches the basic knowledge, skills and attitude necessary for the safe use of a rifle in static target shooting.
Do not bring a personal firearm to the course. The curriculum utilizes camp equipment and consumable supplies. The courses combined total >20 hours of instruction, hands-on practical safety exercise, live-fire range qualification and written exams.
CLASSROOM REPORT SCHEDULE:
Saturday – Check-In opens at 7:30 am (NOT BEFORE)
Saturday – Course starts promptly at 8:00 am; session until 9pm.
Sunday – Course resumes promptly at 8:00 am; session until 4pm.
Sunday – Check-Out / Afternoon
COST: $150
Early bird rate before 11:59 pm on January 31 - $135.
Standard rate after 12:00 am on February 1 - $150.
The fee includes meals, ammunition, use of firearms and course materials. This rate is 50% of the average being charged by public instructors in the region for NRA Firearm courses. BSA Participants will be housed in camp Adirondacks on Saturday night, as needed.

Travel expense to camp is the responsibility of the candidate.
REGISTRATION INFORMATION:

(Minimum 4 students required to conduct the course)
The registration deadline is established to acquire curriculum supplies. Please contact us with any questions you may have regarding the course.
Please Arrive Early; between 7 and 7:30am.
Arrival during this time is necessary to complete check in, please do NOT arrive at 8am as it will delay our start!!! Please have BSA health form (parts A and B) and pre-event screening tool (see below) ready. Because you are shooting, you MUST have a hold harmless waiver - Range & Target Sports Hold Harmless
Departure may be earlier depending on candidates needs as both courses are objective based. We will not get out before lunch on Sunday, but could wrap up as early as 2:30pm. Be prepared to stay until 4pm Sunday if needed.
* Be Prepared*
Prepare for indoor and outdoor activities. No formal BSA uniform required. While camp range protective equipment is available, candidates may wish to bring personal eye and ear protection gear to maximize verbal communication and comfort on the ranges.
BSA merit badge procedures are outside the scope of this course.
Candidates will be walking from the parking lot to the group campsite, so do not pack excess items.
Bring the following items with you for the weekend:
· Shooting Sport: Informed Consent
· Sleeping bag
· Water bottle
· Rain gear
· Shower supplies
· Flashlight
· Tent; alternate to Adirondacks
· Highlighter
· Classroom Notepad & Writing Tools
· Reusable cup for hot liquids
Bring your personal eye and ear protection if you would like to use it instead of the camps.
