The Old North State Council’s Annual Recognition Banquet

The Character in Action Celebration Dinner recognizes and celebrates the leadership accomplishments of the Scouts and Scouters within the Old North State Council.

All Eagle Scouts, who attend the banquet, will receive a special, limited-edition Eagle neckerchief and council strip marking them as an Old North State Council Eagle Scout. This is not only a thank you for their attendance, but a small token of our appreciation for their hard work and dedication to become an Eagle Scout in the Old North State Council.

In addition to recognizing the achievements of the Eagle Scout Class of 2024, the dinner will recognize recipients of the Eagle Service Project of the Year Award and National Eagle Scout Association Scholarships.

Venturing Scouts who earned the Summit Award and Sea Scouts who earned the Quartermaster Award will be recognized. 

In addition to celebrating our Scouts' accomplishments, we will recognize our adult volunteers who model servant leadership and live by the Scout Oath and Law daily. 

We will present the following awards:

• Veteran's Awards for years of service to Scouting
• Commissioner Awards
• Heroism Awards
• Silver Beaver Awards, Class of 2024
• Elbert K. Fretwell Outstanding Educator Awards, Class of 2024
• James E. West Fellowship Recipients, Class of 2024
• National Outstanding Eagle Scout Award
• High Performing Units and Districts in Membership, Advancement, Training, Youth Protection, and Fundraising from 2024

We will recognize Scouts and Scouters who received the following awards earlier in the year:

• Order of the Arrow Vigil Honor Class of 2024
• Order of the Arrow Founders recipients
• Golden Beavers

We will recognize and thank our outgoing council volunteer leaders.

We will honor our volunteers who actively contribute to building and maintaining a culture of safety during our events and activities. 

We will install the 2025 executive board and officers.

Cost:

• $47.50 per person (ages 13 and up)
• $31.00 per person (ages 12 and below)
• The event fee covers the cost of the meal for each person

Logistical Information:

• Gathering time - 6:00 pm
• Program and meal – 6:30 pm
• Scouts and adult leaders should wear their complete field uniforms.
• Business casual is appropriate for all others
• Please indicate your food allergies or dietary needs on the registration sheet.
• Please indicate the name of the Scout or Scouter that you would like to sit near during the celebration
• Tables will seat 8
  • To ensure your party can sit together, one person may want to purchase all 8 tickets at the same time. 

Menu:

Gluten-free and vegan options are available. 

This is a nut-free menu. 

All meals include a simple Southern side salad, dinner rolls, dessert, water, tea, and coffee.

• The simple Southern salad includes Romaine hearts, tomatoes, cucumbers, carrot ribbons, and shaved radish with a house-made balsamic vinaigrette.

Standard Dish (Not Gluten-Free):

• NC Yardbird: Brined and grilled French-cut chicken breast, sweet potato smash, Southern green beans, BBQ demi glaze, and pickled okra.

Vegetarian/Vegan/Gluten-Free Dish:

• Roasted acorn squash stuffed with chickpea and quinoa succotash, and roasted red pepper coulis

Child's Dish (Not Vegan/Not Gluten-Free):

• Chicken tenders with mac n cheese, a choice of white milk or lemonade, and a chocolate cupcake.

Photo Slideshow

• We request two pictures from each Eagle Scout to be used for a slide show.
• A description of the Scout's Eagle Project - what they did, who it benefited
• To be included, we need all pictures by 11:59 pm on Sunday, April 20. 
• Submit photos to onsceaglephoto@gmail.com.
• Picture 1 should feature the Eagle Scout in their Class A/field uniform.
• Picture 2 should feature the Eagle Scout's completed project.
• If involved in Cub Scouting, you may send us one Cub Scout photo as well. 
• We will have a slideshow playing for our guests during dinner and as they enter the building.

Court of Eagles at Cherokee Scout Reservation

Interested in recognizing your Eagle Scout with a brick at Cherokee Scout Reservation’s Court of Eagles?

Cost: $100.
