Welcome to Winter Fun! Great values, adventure awaits
Whether you are a seasoned skier or rider or just looking forward to your first bunny slope, Winterplace offers something for everyone! This year marks the 23rd running of the Old North State Council's hugely popular Scouts on Skis program at Winterplace Ski Resort in Ghent, West Virginia. Located just two and a half hours north of Greensboro, the mountain is both convenient and challenging for all levels of skiers and riders. This year's basic package will have you zipping down the slopes in no time and comes complete with your lift ticket, ski rental, helmet rental and Ski School!! Meal vouchers are not included but can be purchased separately. More than 700 Scout families made the Scouts on Skis their choice for winter fun in 2024. I hope you will join us this season!!

Snowtubing Option One: 1 hour and 45-minute session - $35
- Sessions available: 9am-10:45am, 11am-12:45pm, 3pm – 4:45pm, 5pm- 6:45pm, 7pm -8:45pm.
- 100 Slots per session!
Option Two: 4-hour session - $50
- Sessions available: 9am-1pm or 3pm-7pm
NO ALL-DAY SNOWTUBEING OPTION FOR 2025!
You do not need to purchase a Ski/Snowboard package to go Snowtubing but we recommend you buy a Ski/Snowboard Package so you will have more to do.
If you purchase a tubing package the day of a $5 fee will be added.

This year we have two new things. The first is that we will have a Snow Sports Merit Badge counselor at Winterplace on all three Sundays to sign off on requirements (more information below). The second is if your troop or pack wants to do some cold weather camping, you can do so at the Summit Bechtel Reserve (More Information below).

We will have a Snow Sports merit badge instructor there every weekend to help you earn the Merit badge!

Camping at The Summit.
Summit Bechtel Reserve (Best for Troops and Packs)
Dormitory rooms are available at Base Camp Delta dormitory, which adjoins the Pigott Dining Hall. Each room has three bunk beds (up to six people). Private restrooms with showers are located in the hallway. A gathering room with television, tables, and chairs is located on each floor. Groups determine the number of rooms to rent based on desired occupancy (1 – 6 people) and group composition (male/female, youth/adult) to maintain BSA Youth Protection Guidelines.
