A Scouts BSA leader must complete the following training courses in order to achieve the status of a Trained Leader:
Youth Protection —available online
Scoutmaster/Assistant Scoutmaster Leader Specific Training – available online
Hazardous Weather-available online only
Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills Training will be on August 28 -29, 2021 at Woodfield Scout Preservation
Instructors will help you learn how to set up camp, cook, work with woods tools, rope skills, plan campfire programs, map reading and compass skills, hiking and packing techniques, nature identification, and outdoor ethics. Each outdoor session will bring to life the pages of the Scouts BSA Handbook to help you deliver the promise of Scouting to yourself and the youth you serve. It will increase your comfort level and give you confidence as a trained, skilled leader. The program will also give you the opportunity to work with other Scout leaders from your area, meet new friends, and reinforce skill techniques with fellow unit leaders.
Please plan to pack your equipment in. Each participant will need to bring his/her own tent, sleeping pad & sleeping bag, water bottle, mess & utensil kit and BSA field (class A) uniform. If you have a backpack stove & compass, please bring. Remember to bring a copy of your BSA part A&B Medical Form and 14 day out Temperature Check form.
