On behalf of the Alamance and Cherokee districts, we are thrilled to welcome you to the 2024 District Camporee with this year's exciting theme: "Surviving the Oregon Trail!"
This weekend promises to be filled with adventure, teamwork, and the spirit of exploration, as we step back in time and experience what it was like for the brave pioneers who journeyed across the rugged terrain of the Oregon Trail. You’ll face challenges inspired by the real-life obstacles pioneers overcame—like navigating rough terrain, working together as a team, and surviving in the wilderness. These activities will test your Scouting skills, resourcefulness, and perseverance!
Over the weekend, you’ll have the chance to:
- Participate in skills competitions focused on survival, pioneering, and first aid.
- Build lasting friendships with other Scouts.
- Enjoy campfires, stories, and shared experiences that celebrate the Scouting traditions of adventure and learning.
Remember, the spirit of the Oregon Trail was all about resilience, determination, and cooperation—values we hold dear in Scouting. We encourage you to bring your best effort, a positive attitude, and, most importantly, a sense of fun and camaraderie!
Please review the Camporee schedule and activity stations to make sure you are prepared for a weekend of excitement. Leaders, thank you for your dedication to preparing the Scouts for this journey. Your leadership is invaluable to ensuring everyone has a safe and rewarding experience.
Let’s make this a memorable Camporee and celebrate our shared Scouting adventure as we conquer the "Oregon Trail" together!
Good luck, and happy trails!
