Rangemaster Training 2026
Who: Adults wanting to operate ranges for Council Events

This course provides the basics of Archery and BB Gun instruction, range operations, and shooting skills so you can run an effective Archery or BB Gun program for Cub Scouts and Webelos. Graduates of this course will be qualified as Archery, BB Gun, and Sling Shot Range Masters and may run a Range at a Cub Camp or other Council event if accompanied by at least one additional adult age 21 or over.
This course is intended for adults wishing to be a Range Master at a council or district event or cub camp. Shooting sports are not an approved activity at the den or pack level. For details, please refer to the BSA Guide to Safe Scouting.

Prerequisites:
Adults must be registered with the BSA and have completed Youth Protection Training.
Please bring your lunch, water bottle, and layered clothing appropriate for outdoor activities.
NO PRIVATE FIREARMS OR BOWS ARE ALLOWED.
Most Trainings are held at Chesebrough Scout Reservation 26005 California 9, Los Gatos, CA.
*The March 8th Practical course is a follow up to the University of Scouting classroom session that occurs on March 7th at Santa Clara High School. You need to attend both sessions to recieve certification.
