Cost: $25 (includes lunch)

Who: Open to Scouts BSA, max 120 participants (expanded to 160)

Bring: A laptop or computer (required).

Scouts will work with trained merit badge counselors to explore:

• Essential knowledge and skills to navigate and protect the digital world
• Online safety, ethical behavior, cyber threats and how to defend against them
• How to use tools such as firewalls and antivirus software and how to develop strong passwords
• Explore encryption, connected devices, and the risks of public Wi-Fi
• Practice safe habits such as updating software and backing up data
• Hands-on activities to investigate real-world cyber incidents and participate in cybersecurity challenges
• Career exploration in one of the fastest-growing fields

To successfully complete the Cyber Security Merit badge at the class, participants must:

• Complete and bring the pre-requesite sheet (Pre-Requisites: 1a, 2a, 4a, 4b, 4e, 4f, 5c8, 6a, 9a)
• Attend the entire class (from 9-2)
• Review the requirements and materials in advance so that you are prepared to engage in discussion
