Merit Badge Counselor Training
Event Details
Join us for an in-person merit badge training class.
To qualify as a Merit Badge Counselor, you must:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Be proficient in the merit badge subject by vocation or avocation
- Be able to work with Scout age youth
- Be registered with the Boy Scouts of America (A separate registration as a Merit Badge Counselor)
The requirements for adults interested in supporting Scouting BSA as a Merit Badge Counselor (MBC) are as follows:
- Attend a MBC training course at one of the offered sessions from the Council, at University of Scouting, or BSA’s online training.
- Bring to MBC training event or provide to Council:
- A Completed Adult Application (use Position code 42)
- Copy of a Current YPT certificate. Complete Youth Protection Training (YPT) here.
- Completed Merit Badge Counselor Information worksheet indicating which Merit Badges you’re interested in. (List of Merit Badges)
- Merit Badge Counselor training date written on all documents.
- Complete California Assembly Bill 506 – Youth Protection Training and Life Scan
