2026 Cub Overnight Weekend

Event Details

Larsen’s Meadow at Camp Rancho Alegre

October 2 – October 4, 2026

What is Cub Overnight Weekend (COW)?

COW is a program offered by the Los Padres Council for an opportunity to live the Scout Oath and Law, while experiencing the excitement for Cub Scout camping: the thumping of feet on the way to an evening campfire; the ripple of wind-blown flags and hearing the frogs ribbit at night; and the opportunity to experience a camping experience with other dens of your own age/grade level.  It is watching teamwork in your den grow, and sharing an opportunity for learning, for advancement, and most importantly, for fun.

Our Cub Overnight Weekend will give our Cub Scouts interaction with some of our dedicated Scouts BSA Scouts and council leaders, share good food, enjoy a campout (dens are invited to stay Friday night through Sunday morning, with den-level appropriate activities planned for Saturday during the day for those dens who are unavailable to stay the whole weekend), and participate in events like Archery, knot tying, and more. Should you have any questions or need help, all you need to do is ask. This is Scouting after all!

We will provide dinners Friday night and Saturday night for those who wish to camp with us.   Dens staying over to camp with us should arrange their own breakfasts Saturday and Sunday, and all dens should prepare for a quick lunch on Saturday in between program run by our volunteers.

If you have questions, contact our COW Chair Len Kamlet at lkamlet@gmail.com.  We’ll see you there!

Yours in Scouting, Your 2026 COW Committee

EQUIPMENT

Feel free to bring group camping gear such as lanterns, camp chairs, tents, and tables to make the weekend comfortable.  For meals prepared by the dens, bring stoves, pots, pans, and cooking utensils as needed.

Dens will be requested to conduct a skit, a run-on, or sing or lead a song during the campfire on Saturday night. Keep them short and one per Patrol. Remember that we are Scouts so keep these clean so ask yourself, “Would Grandma approve?”
