CAMP WINTON ALUMNI WORK PARTY

Calling all Camp Winton Alumni and Supporters:
Now is your chance to come and re-live the magic of camp (and campfires!) at Camp Winton AND help bring camp back to life after winter slumber!
We need your help and expertise! After completing our pre-camp inspection last week, we found several areas in camp that could use a little TLC to bring them up to the glory of Winton past! Who better than our amazing Alumni know what camp is supposed to look like?!
Areas we will be working on during this work party:
-sanding/power washing buildings
-painting buildings, railings and trim
-repairing or replacing damaged benches in the Woodland Fire Bowl
-clearing debris, downed trees and junk from camp
-supervising burn piles
-repairing/painting or sealing picnic tables
-creating and building a new archway/entryway to flagpole rock (if you have ideas for this, please email me!!)
-repairing tent platforms
-building a bridge
-clearing foot trails and lining with rocks
Tools needed:
-ladders
-power washers
-sanders
-paint supplies
-hammers/ nail guns
-compressors
-drills
-work gloves
-saws
-empty truck beds to haul debris
-anything else you can think of!
This is an overnight camping opportunity that will be for Adults only. Scouts age 15+ are welcome to work during the day. Each scout must be accompanied by their parent. This is not a scouting activity, rather a gathering of alumni and helpers to perform a task. If scouts and parents wish to camp, there are a number of campsites just outside of the Winton boundary that you could reserve. Food will not be provided, however, food you bring will need to be stored inside the lodge, as we have had bear activity in camp.
*** REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED, AS WE NEED TO ACCOUNT FOR EVERYONE IN CAMP AND HAVE ACCURATE NUMBERS TO REPORT TO THE FOREST SERVICE *** We will also need to know supply information.
Please email Julia.Hawkinson@scouting.org with any questions or to let me know if you can contribute tools etc.
