About the training:
Scouting America’s Portable Challenge Structure Facilitator (PCSF) training certifies an individual to operate portable challenge structures, such as portable climbing walls. Golden Empire Council’s portable wall falls under this classification, requiring events to be supervised by 2 instructors: either PCSF or a certified Level 2 Climbing Instructor (or higher). All climbing events must include a minimum of 2 qualified instructors.
Class participants MUST complete Scouting America’s “Climb on Safely” course on my.scouting.org prior to attending this class.
This course will include training on various Scouting program methods and requirements related to the PCSF role and the manufacturer’s requirements to operate the Vertical Reality wall owned by GEC.
Check-in begins at 8:45am and coursework begins promptly at 9am. The class should be finished by 3 or 4pm but could run later depending on the pace of instruction and number of students. Participants should be prepared for the extended day. PREWORK will be assigned, is mandatory. Failure to complete the prework and provide your certificate to the instructor will forfeit your slot in the course and forfeit your course fee.
