Update on the Coronavirus and Impact on Programs
Wilderness First Aid is a required 16-hour course for leaders taking kids into the back country at all four of the BSA’s High Adventure bases, and is recommended whenever they will be 30 minutes or more from access to emergency services. However, anyone can attend, and it can be engaging and fun.
The courses in 2020 will be held two times; each session over three dates:
- Feb 7 (William Lyon Homes Scout Office), 21, and 22 Irvine Ranch Outdoor Education Center
- May 1, May 15 (William Lyon Homes Center for Scouting), and May 16, 2020. The May 16 training will be held at the Irvine Ranch Outdoor Education Center.
This training is the assessment of, and treatment given to, an ill or injured person in a remote environment where definitive care of a physician and/or rapid transport is not readily available.
Attendance at all three sessions are required. All participants must be at least 14 years of age, a current member of the BSA, and hold the Basic First Aid/CPR/AED card.
Cost is $80
