Wilderness First Aid

Wilderness First Aid is a required course for leaders taking Scouts into the back country at all four of the BSA’s High Adventure bases, and is recommended whenever they will be 30 minutes or more from access to emergency services. Anyone, age 14+, can attend, and it can be engaging and fun.
This courses has been adjusted to work with Covid guidelines. Please note dates and times:
- Part 1 Thursday, November 17th (Via zoom) 6pm-9pm - Orientation and Fundamentals
- Part 2 On-line Study Course (your time your speed) with a must pass exam by December 8th
- Part 3 Friday, December 9th (Via zoom) 6pm-9pm - Extended presentations, Q&A, Skills Demonstrations and Practice
- Part 4 Saturday, December 10th In Person at IROEC 8am to 2pm. More demonstrations, skills test, live scenarios and graduation
This training is the assessment of, and treatment given to, an ill or injured person in a remote environment where definitive care of a physician and/or rapid transport is not readily available.
Attendance at all sessions are required. All participants must be at least 14 years of age, a current member of the BSA, and hold the Basic First Aid/CPR/AED card.
As space is limited to 24 participants course is limited to no more then two per unit.
* Please note the last day of this class is held at the Irvine Ranch Outdoor Education Center. You will need to complete and bring Part A&B of the BSA med form and be prepared to review Health and Safety guidelines upon arrival at the property. The gate code for the facility will be emailed to you by December 7th.
