NRA Rifle Instructor Courses

What to run Troop Shoots?  Volunteer at Shooting Sports Events?                                                                    Work at Council Camps?

When: Saturday, February 21st - Sunday, February 22nd, 2026 and Sunday February 28th, 2026

Where: Firestone Scout Reservation - 19001 Tonner Canyon Rd, Brea, CA 9282

Course Info: This training event includes the NRA Basic Rifle Course and the NRA Rifle Instructor Course, the 2 required courses to earn your NRA Rifle Instructor certification. You must attend all 3 days to earn your Instructor credential. The NRA Rifle Instructor certification is one of the credentials that allow people to conduct Troop Rifle Shoots, assist with Shooting Sports aka Range & Target activities at events, and work on shooting ranges at Scouts BSA Camps. These 2 courses will provide you with the knowledge, skills, and certification to instruct rifle shooters on ranges.

Cost: The total cost for both courses is $250. You will pay the course cost of $120 (paid on Black Pug), plus a $130 materials fee (paid on the 1st day of the training). The cost includes camp access, course materials, instruction, guns, and ammunition.
