Description:

National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) is a focused, high-energy outdoor experience for Scout BSA Troop/Venturing Crew youth leaders. Participants experience of an ideal Troop, experiencing team challenges to understanding their own “Quest for the Meaning of Leadership.” Some leadership skill objectives include:

• Developing team visions
• Goal setting with SMART goals.
• Project planning – 4W’s
• Communication – MesSeR
• Leading EDGE methods
• Conflict Management – EAR

All offered in a fun outdoor environment within a program infused with the Scouting Spirit. Many colleges, universities and academies have recognized NYLT as a premier leadership program.

(Both weekends required)

• Weekend One: June 14, 2024 (1:00 pm) - June 16, 2024 (5:30 pm)
• Weekend Two: June 21, 2024 (1:00 pm) - June 23, 2024 (5:30 pm)

Participant Fee:

• $325 (in council)
• $375 (out of council)

Participant Requirements:

• Must be a registered member of a Scouting Unit.
• Must have a current BSA Health and Medical Forms Part A B & C.
• Participants must be at least 13 years of old.
• Participants must be in the following rank or above: 1st Class for BSA Scout; Venturer for Venturing Crew; Sea Scout rank for Sea Scout.
• Participant must complete one of the following courses: ILST, ILSC, or ILSS. For more information on NYLT prerequisite, see youth training page for more information: https://www.scouting.org/training/youth/ 
• Have a unit leader recommendation.
• Here is the the confirmation of proper preparation and recommendation by your unit leader:  Unit Leader Recommendation and Prior Training Confirmation
• Recommended they have one year of camping experience. NYLT is not an outdoor skills course, it is important that each participant. have basic camping and outdoor cooking experience. Participants will need to bring a two person tent to share with the person staff assigns. 
• Participants and their parents must abide by any current county, city, and council health guidelines.
