Lifeguard training at Trask
Interested in being a lifeguard at our council camps?
Scouts and adults, age 15 and up, are able to take the training. Strong swimming ability is necessary. $250 per person paid on April 26th.
Note: initial registration is $200 after passing prerequisites on Friday, with an additional $50 paid in cash to instructor for Red Cross certificate, Lifeguard Hip pack, CPR masks and supplies ( Non latex gloves, manikin lungs etc. )

BSA and Red Cross Lifeguard training with Red Cross First Aid and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer--Requires taking and passing the Red Cross 8hr online training before the in person class begins. Access to online training will be given March 30, 2024.
Prerequisites will be conducted on Friday April 26 at 5pm at Camp Trask.
1. Submit proof of age and BSA Registration. You must be at least 15 years old to participate.
2. Submit written evidence of fitness for swimming activities (signed health history from medical form).
3. Swim continuously for 550 yards in good form using the front crawl or breaststroke or a combination of either, but swimming on the back or side is not allowed.
4. Immediately following the above swim, tread water for two minutes using the legs only and with the hands under the armpits.
5. Starting in the water, swim 20 yards using a front crawl or breaststroke, surface dive 7 to 10 feet, retrieve a 10-pound object, surface, swim on your back with the object 20 yards back to the starting point with both hands holding the object, and exit the water, all within 1 minute, 40 seconds.
Cost: Once prerequisites are passed on Friday ( Note $350 value at Rose Bowl )
