The 2023 National Scout Jamboree will be held at the Summit Bechtel Reserve in West Virginia July 19th-28th. More than just a gathering of Scouts from around the country, the Jamboree offers dozens of activities (such as shooting climbing, cope courses, ziplines, Scuba, whitewater, obstacle courses, whitewater), merit badges, a STEM area, concerts, patch trading, and more. In order for Scouts to go to Jamboree, they must apply and pay through their local council, which puts together troops consisting of Scouts throughout the council. As is our tradition, GLAAC will be our troops on a four-day tour of the East Coast (Philadelphia, Gettysburg, Washington DC, and King’s Dominion Amusement Park), followed by the nine days at Jamboree. There will be separate troops for boys and girls. Scouts will fly out late on July 14th and return late on July 28th. The cost of the event includes flights, the tour, Jamboree, and some Jamboree-related gear.

Payment and Cancellation Policies

2023 National Jamboree

Scouts interested in registering for the National Jamboree should visit the GLAAC registration site at: https://www.scoutingevent.com/033-jamboree.

Payment Schedule:

• The cost of Jamboree is $4,200 for youth and $3,700 for adults who register by October 31, 2022. For those who register after November 1st, there will be an additional fee of $225 to cover increased costs at that National and Council level.
• For Scouts, the initial deposit is equal to $600 plus $400 for each month after July (e.g., Aug = $1,000, Sept = $1,400, etc.). This will put the family on schedule with the payment plan. Each month afterwards, families should pay $400. This payment schedule is designed so that the final payment is made in April 2023.
• For Adults, the initial deposit is equal to $550 plus $350 for each month after July (e.g., Aug = $900, Sept = $1,250, etc.). This will put the family on schedule with the payment plan. Each month afterwards, families should pay $350. This payment schedule is designed so that the final payment is made in April 2023. • The full balance is due by May 1, 2023. If payment is not received by then, you risk having your reservation canceled.

Cancellation Policy:

• Before November 30th, there is no cancellation fee.
• After November 30th, Council will only be able to refund money that has not already been paid on your behalf (e.g., airline costs, Jamboree fee, travel agency, equipment).
• After all deductions of such payments are made, a refund of any or all remaining fees paid may be available.
