BALOO Training at CWSC

Description:
Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation (BALOO) is required training for Cub Scout leaders who plan to conduct outdoor activities such as pack camping. This training ensures leaders understand how to safely plan, organize, and lead outdoor experiences for Cub Scouts and their families.
BALOO training covers key topics including outdoor program planning, health and safety guidelines, campsite selection, equipment, meal planning, age-appropriate activities, and how to follow Scouting America’s outdoor policies and standards. Leaders also learn how to create a fun and engaging outdoor experience that helps Cub Scouts build confidence, teamwork, and a love for the outdoors.
The training typically includes both an online component and an in-person outdoor session. During the hands-on portion, leaders practice essential camping skills such as setting up tents, cooking outdoors, using camping equipment, and organizing activities suitable for Cub Scouts.
At least one BALOO-trained adult must be present at any Cub Scout pack overnight camping event. This training helps ensure that every outdoor activity is safe, well-planned, and provides a memorable experience for Scouts and their families.
Cost: $45.00 per person
