PACIFICA FISHING MERIT BADGE CAMP:

Set sail for adventure and reel in the Fishing Merit Badge! This unique program invites Scouts—both boys and girls—to enjoy the thrill of ocean fishing while completing all requirements for the Fishing Merit Badge.

Scouts will spend half a day aboard the Monte Carlo fishing boat, departing from 22nd Street Sportfishing Landing in San Pedro. After an exciting day at sea, the group will take a short 20-minute walk to Cabrillo Beach Youth Center, where they will spend the night. The following day, participants will complete any remaining badge requirements.

Throughout the experience, Certified Angling Educators, Instructors, Directors, and Fishing Merit Badge Counselors will guide Scouts in learning and refining their fishing skills. This camp is perfect for first-time anglers and seasoned fishermen alike.

Meals & Spending Money

• Saturday lunch is not provided. Scouts may bring a sack lunch or purchase food from the boat’s snack bar (burgers, snacks, and drinks available). If buying on board, please provide about $20 cash.

Fishing License Requirement

• Participants 16 years and older must have a California Fishing License.
• 1-Day Ocean License: $20.52 (available for purchase at 22nd Street Sportfishing Landing).

Important Notes

• All participants, volunteers, and staff must be registered Scouting America members.

OPTIONAL FISHING GEAR: 

• Saltwater Rod and Reel - 25# Test Line. Tackle will be provided.

CLOTHING: 

• Fishing Trip - Class B Uniform with Lightweight Hoody
• Normal Clothing for an overnight camping trip and Sunday

CAMPING GEAR: 

• Sleeping Bag
• Sleeping Pad
• Pillow
• Tent, Tarp or Bivy. Scouts will be sleeping outside
• Headlamp or Flashlight
• Toiletrees

COST:

• $150.00 – per Participant - includes fishing boat fee, rod & reel rental, tackle gear, food and camp fee.
• Saturday Lunch is not provided - the boat has a snack bar which serves burgers, snacks and drinks. Please give your scout about $20.00 cash if they wish to buy lunch on the boat or they are welcome to bring a sack lunch.
• Participants 16 years and older will need a California Fishing License. These can be purchased at 22nd Street Sportfishing Landing - 1 Day Ocean License $20.52
