Event Details


DESCRIPTION:
This class equips Scouts with essential knowledge and hands-on skills to handle emergencies effectively. Participants will:

  • Understand the fundamentals of first aid and how to provide care in both home and wilderness settings.
  • Learn to get emergency medical assistance and respond swiftly in critical situations.
  • Practice bandaging techniques for common injuries, including sprained ankles, and injuries to the head, upper arm, and collarbone.
  • Master methods to safely transport a person from a smoke-filled room or carry someone with a sprained ankle over a distance.
  • Recognize the five most common signs of a heart attack and respond appropriately.
  • Learn and practice the steps of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
  • Gain confidence in managing emergencies involving utilities such as gas, electricity, and water.

This class emphasizes practical application, preparing Scouts to respond calmly and effectively in a variety of emergency scenarios.
