A nation is a patchwork of communities that differ from each other and may be governed differently. But regardless of how local communities differ, they all have one point in common: In the United States, local government means self-government. Good citizens help to make decisions about their community through their elected local officials.

Date & Time: Saturday, May 16, 2026 from 10:30am to 1:00pm

Cost: $50 per Scout (15 scouts max in class)

• Bring signed blue card
• Dress in field uniform
• Read the Merit Badge Book
• Worksheet is recommended (find online or use paper)
• Do prerequisites 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8
• Find prerequisites here: Cit Comm requirements
• Read requirement 2a (determine distance and record from home via driving, and either walking or biking)
• Requirement 3a must be done in person
• If not completed may make an appointment to return.
