Wood Badge 2026

Wood Badge Late Summer 2026
Course Information
Wood Badge is an advanced, national leadership course open only to Scouting volunteers and professionals. Scouters from Cub Scouts, Scouts BSA, Venturing, Sea Scouts, and Explorers, and district and council Scouters all are welcome and belong here.
In 1911, Baden-Powell began training adult Scout leaders by organizing a series of lectures for Scouters. Over the years, he made significant progress, leading to the creation of Wood Badge training in 1919. Since then, Wood Badge has grown into a global program, with over 100,000 participants worldwide.
The purpose of Wood Badge is to provide a hands-on experience in the aims and methods of Scouting. Typically held over five days (two weekends), the course offers a dynamic mix of leadership development, practical tools, and interactive activities—all grounded in Scouting’s traditions and informed by modern team-building principles. Participants also enjoy the camaraderie of fellow Scouters and have a great time along the way.
Wood Badge offers you an outstanding opportunity to:
-Gain a deeper understanding of Scouting as a values-based, age-appropriate program that spans all youth levels.
-Explore modern leadership strategies used in business and government, and see how they align with and enhance the Scouting movement.
-Practice and apply your leadership skills as part of a high-performing team, and return to your unit with new tools to help fulfill Scouting’s mission.
-Reignite your passion for Scouting through a powerful and memorable experience—one many consider a highlight of their Scouting journey.
We truly hope you’ll take part. It’s a rewarding experience that offers lasting benefits. Your current contributions to Scouting are commendable—and with Wood Badge, you’ll be equipped to make an even greater impact as you help deliver on Scouting’s promise.
